ROBERT CHUA’S EVERYONE WINS WINS OVER QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS FOR CHARITY IN SINGAPORE
For National Kidney Foundation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Singapore April 21, 2003 – EVERYONE WINS, the hit game show created and produced by leading Asian television producer Robert Chua, is winning big for charity.
Airing in Singapore on Mediacorp Channel 8, EVERYONE WINS has logged more than 50,000 viewers calls donating five Singapore dollars per call – for a total of over a quarter million dollars – all of which benefits the local National Kidney Foundation (NKF).
EVERYONE WINS features a viewer interactive segment that invited the home audience to participate at a nominal per-call fee of Singapore five dollars – with all money benefiting the NKF.
“EVERYONE WINS is a real winner for Channel 8 and for the National Kidney Foundation,” said Khiew Voon Kwang, Vice President of Network Programming & Promotion. “We are thrilled with the ratings performance of EVERYONE WINS, which continues to draw increasing numbers of viewers each week, and we are particularly delighted by the viewer response to our ongoing promotion on behalf of the National Kidney Foundation.”
In addition to Singapore’s Channel 8, EVERYONE WINS airs in Shanghai seven nights a week in prime time on Shanghai’s Oriental TV, where the program ranks as the channel’s #1-rated show.
At the recent MIP-TV held in Cannes, Chua launched a special format for EVERYONE WINS that Robert Chua Productions is representing for worldwide television.
“I am delighted by the viewer reaction in Singapore to EVERYONE WINS, and am thrilled by the level of contributions made by viewers for the National Kidney Foundation,” Said Chua. “Mediacorp Channel 8 has done a stellar job in promoting the show, and tying the program in with this outstanding charitable organization.”
Robert Chua is recognized for having pioneered terrestrial television in Hong Kong in 1967. As one of the first executive producers at Hong Kong's TVB – the market’s first terrestrial TV station – Chua brought the first ever live programming to Hong Kong, including the variety program “Enjoy Yourself Tonight” and the first Miss Hong Kong pageant.
In March 1995, Chua launched the Chinese language satellite TV service China Entertainment Television Broadcast Ltd (CETV,) which was recently acquired by Time Warner. Chua continues to retain his shareholding and remains as Chairman of the programming service.
One of the most influential personalities in Asian media, Chua is also regarded by television industry executives worldwide as a significant resource for Asian co-production, distribution and consultation services.
